NewscastMedia -- America's First Lady Barbara Bush presents yet another dynamic team of speakers in this year's "A Celebration Of Reading" in Dallas, on November 8, 2010. Click here to see guest list (pop-up)
Speaking to people involved in The Barbara Bush Foundation For Family Literacy, and those who are interested in learning more about it, Barbara Bush said, "Family literacy programs are so important! The staff, teachers and volunteers at these programs help parents and their children learn and read together, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to thrive in all aspects of their lives." The mission of the Foundation is to establish literacy as a value in every family in America, by helping every family in the nation understand that the home is the child's first school, that the parent is the child's first teacher, and that reading is the child's first subject; and to break the intergenerational cycle of illiteracy, by supporting the development of family literacy programs where parents and children can learn and read together. Among the special guests will be former First Lady Laura Bush, who is also the New York Time's #1 Bestselling author of Spoken from the Heart, a book in which she writes with honesty and eloquence about her family, her public triumphs, and her personal tribulations. Also on the list of scheduled guests is Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, who will share from her memoir, Extraordinary, Ordinary People, that is slated for release on October 12. Spearheading the event is George P. Bush and his bride Amanda Bush who play a crucial role in organizing the event every year, by sending out announcements and galvanizing people to participate in whatever capacity they can, to make the event a success. More information can be found at celebrationreading.com A Celebration Of Reading will take place in Dallas, TX on Monday November 8, 2010 at The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.
