Newscast Media DAMASCUS—The so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) takfiri group freed 19 Assyrian Christian captives in Syria on Sunday, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Seventeen men and two women were released after going through an ISIL court, according to the monitoring group. Over 200 Assyrians still remain captive after being taken hostage during the ISIL's advance near the northeastern Syrian city of Hasaka, in which a dozen villages occupied by the Christian minority were attacked.
