David Beckham Takes Legal Action Against Magazine
by Joseph Ernest September 23, 2010
Newscast Media -- David Beckham is taking legal action against a US magazine that published allegations claiming the footballer paid a whore $10, 000 a night for sex. In a statement, his representatives said the claims were "completely untrue and totally ridiculous, as the magazine was clearly told before publication". "Sadly we live in a world where a magazine can print lies and believe they can get away with it." Last year, Beckham accepted libel damages from the Daily Star newspaper after it claimed he had made advances towards a model. The US magazine at the center of this controversy is InTouch magazine. The magazine alleged that Davide Beckham slept with an escort known only as Miss Nici in a New York hotel room in 2007. The gossip magazine has further reported that Miss Nici flew in to London a month later to render her services to the sportstar. "We had great chemistry," she told InTouch. "I've seen quite a few high-profile people. He isn't full of himself. He's a really nice guy." Beckham, married for 11 years, has been a regular target of attempts to portray him as a philanderer, ever since the tabloid scandal of 2004 when Rebecca Loos, his former personal assistant, claimed to have had an affair with him while he was playing for Real Madrid.
