Protests have spread to 1,000 counties across the world - according to Diane Sawyer
by Joseph Earnest October 11, 2011
Newscast Media HOUSTON, Texas --Before the mainstream media jumped on the Occupy Wall Street protests, Newscast Media featured the documentary Top 1 percent on this Web site. Yet media practitioners still aren't doing their homework and demonstrate a lack of basic knowledge. On Monday on World News, Diane Sawyer, a veteran journalist, claimed the protests had spread to 1,000 countries on every continent, even though there are only 196; without including the few that aren’t recognized as independent states. That’s the biggest disadvantage of journalists reading from teleprompters and not writing their own copy. In the clip above from NewsBusters.org, Sawyer says: "Speaking of Wall Street, we thought we’d bring you up to date on those protesters, the Occupy Wall Street movement. As of tonight, it has spread to more than 250 American cities, more than a thousand countries -- every continent but Antarctica."
