Newscast Media KAMPALA—Opposition leader Dr. Warren Kizza Besigye was sworn in today Wednesday May 11, 2016, as Uganda's president, with thousands of Forum of Democratic Change (FDC) supporters cheering him.
Besigye asserted that any swearing in by his opponent Yoweri Museveni, would be illegitimate because he (Besigye) won the election, and has evidence to support his claims.
Holding a Bible in his right hand, Besigye made the utterance, "I, Kizza Besigye Kifefe, swear in the name of the Almighty God, that I will be faithful, and bear true allegiance to the Republic of Uganda and that I shall preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Uganda. So help me God."
Besigye addressed leaders from FDC and said that what was happening, was no ordinary swearing-in ceremony, since Museveni was trying to use force to overthrow the will of the people.
Tomorrow, Thursday May 12, 2016, Mr. Yoweri Museveni plans to swear himself in as the second president of Uganda. Add Comments>> Related stories: Uganda: Compromised election likely to yield faulty results
