by Joseph Earnest September 5, 2012 Newscast Media CHARLOTTE, NC—The Democratic National Convention that started on September 4, aimed at contrasting Democrats and Republicans, with the Democrats focusing on social issues, and imploring voters to re-elect Obama for four more years. Several speakers were on hand including Michelle Obama, Harry Reid, Rahm Emmanuel and many others, the highlights of which are posted below. Mrs. Obama also said, "Every day, the people I meet inspire me . every day, they make me proud . every day they remind me how blessed we are to live in the greatest nation on earth." "You see, even though back then Barack was a senator and a presidential candidate . to me, he was still the guy who'd picked me up for our dates in a car that was so rusted out, I could actually see the pavement going by through a hole in the passenger side door . he was the guy whose proudest possession was a coffee table he'd found in a dumpster, and whose only pair of decent shoes was half a size too small," she said. Barack Obama's sister, Maya Soetoro-ng told the crowd, "Four years ago at this convention, I spoke with you all about how Barack and I didn't grow up with much in the way of wealth. But we were blessed with a mother who taught us that education is the surest path from limited means to limitless opportunity. She inspired me to become a teacher.
