Mayweather fight still on Pacquiao's mind
by Joseph Ernest September 1, 2010
Newscast Media NEW YORK – Manny Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach wanted the exact same thing that boxing fans everywhere wanted: Floyd Mayweather Jr. They got Antonio Margarito instead. Pacquiao and Roach said Wednesday that they agreed to every demand put forward by Mayweather for what could have been the richest fight in boxing history. Roach also said that negotiations took place for the fight, contradicting Mayweather adviser Leonard Ellerbe. Mayweather has said that he has no plan to fight this year, leaving Pacquiao to look elsewhere for a fall opponent. He settled on Margarito, the former welterweight champion. Pacquiao and Margarito spent Wednesday in New York City announcing their matchup, scheduled for Nov. 13 at Cowboys Stadium near Dallas.
